Pridelines ProgramsRainbow Circle is a peer-led LGBTQ support & discussion group. Topics covered often include coming out, relationships, bullying, peer pressure, drugs & alcohol, depression and self-esteem. Youth pick and develop discussion topics and are able to express their thoughts and feelings without fear in a safe and supportive environment.
Youth Council is Pridelines’ youth leadership team. Youth Council discusses and plans upcoming events, provides input to program staff and board of directors on behalf of their peers, and develops agendas for Town Hall meetings. This is a great leadership development program.
Sex Talk: Peer Health Educators is a group for young LGBTQ adults who learn how to speak with other young adults about sex, sexuality and HIV/STD prevention. Youth conduct outreach events, record video messages, participate in a series of performances and organize special events with a purpose. This group has an age, youth must be between the ages of 14 and 20.
Explorer Posts are a unique career exploration program for young LGBTQ adults. Groups of 6-12 Explorers (youth) work closely with 4-6 Post Advisors (adult volunteers and experts in the career field) to develop practical real life skills in the career area the Post has chosen. Youth work on community projects, fundraising, plan outings and events. Explorer Post are cohesive units, where friends work together to achieve common goals. Pridelines is recruiting volunteers to form and/or join 5 different Explorer Posts:
‚ Medical/Health Education ‚ Business/Entrepreneurship ‚ Legal/LGBT Rights & Advocacy ‚ Natural Science/Environment ‚ Performing Arts – Youth Chorale: A partnership with the Gay Mens Chorus to form the first LGBTQ Youth Chorus.
Becoming Women - Building Our Future is a financial education, economic empowerment and leadership development program for young LBTQ women. This program is designed to build self-esteem and break down the social isolation and structural barriers that prevent young women from attaining economic self-sufficiency.
Between Here & Somewhere Else is a unique gender and sexuality education program for transgender and gender variant individuals. This program is designed to help TG/GV people learn about themselves and how to deal with the discontinuity between their hearts and the mirror, and the thoughts and feelings they experience. This group is limited to youth between the ages of 16 and 24.
PFLAG/Rainbow Circle is designed to be a support and discussion group for Parents, families and Friends of Lesbian And Gay, bisexual and transgender people. The day begins with a potluck lunch at 12pm for youth, their family and friends. Then, they break into separate groups, adults join their discussion and support groups while youth have their own Rainbow Circle meeting.
Lavender Salon is a fun and relaxed intergenerational LGBTQ affirming event for Pridelines’ youth, volunteers and allies. Good food, good company and social action all wrapped into one night. Potluck at begins at 6:30pm and is followed by a program including music, entertainment, games, volunteer training and/or social action.
Youth Enrichment Activities are monthly opportunities for our youth to engage socially in a safe and supportive environment outside of a group/program setting. Youth Enrichment Activities include the annual Youth Prom, boat trips, going to Gay Days, trips to Metro Zoo, going ice skating, the annual Halloween Party, Thanksgiving Party and Holiday Party, and more!
Other Events and Programs
Youth Prom For more than 14 years, Pridelines has produced one the most popular LGBTQ youth proms in the South Florida. Youth from Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties come together to celebrate the end of their school year with their friends. This is a safe and fun space for our youth members to come in the Prom Attire of their choice with the date of their choice… no judging!
Miami Beach Gay Pride Pridelines youth show their pride each year by marching in the annual Gay Pride Parade. It’s a fun, safe and unforgettable experience for our youth members and for the community at large.
Halloween Party Come in your best Halloween Costume and party the night away with your friends at Pridelines Youth Services. There’s no other party in town like it!
Thanksgiving Celebration We have so much to be thankful for! Join us each year for our Thanksgiving dinner.
Holiday Party What more can we say? Music, food, dancing and gifts!
